As we enter the new year, it’s time to explore the emerging home design trends that will define the look and feel of our living spaces. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the top design trends set to dominate in the coming months.
We are always on the lookout for the latest and greatest in home design trends, and we recently stumbled upon an article on Houzz titled “28 Home Design Trends That Will Define 2024”. As we delved into the article, we couldn’t help but notice a few standout trends that we’ve been seeing more and more in our work with clients. It’s always exciting to see what people are gravitating towards in their homes, and when we saw that Houzz noticed some of the same trends, we knew we had to share our thoughts on the matter. So, whether you’re looking to revamp your living space or simply seeking inspiration, sit back and get ready to explore the home design trends that will define 2024 and beyond!
MultiPurpose Kitchen Islands
Let’s be honest, kitchen islands have always been something that people want in their homes. We remodel them all the time to make them custom for our own client’s lifestyles. We have been seeing our clients wanting their islands to be more than serving or preparation stations in their homes. They want their islands to do so much more, being the heart of their kitchens. In this Houzz article, they mention how some trending kitchen island styles are places where you can install a mini fridge for easy access to beverages, some like to install their microwaves into their islands for more countertop space. But our favorite use for a multipurpose kitchen island? A kitchen island that merges into a dining table! Take a look at the image below to see what we mean.

Minimalism
It may seem strange to call “minimalism” a trend but people are over cluttered spaces! They want more seamless storage and functional spaces. Think clean countertops that aren’t cluttered with appliances, or an office space with no cords in sight! A clutter-free home office can increase productivity, reduce stress, improve mood, save time, and help you stay organized. It can create a more professional and efficient workspace, leading to greater success and satisfaction while working from home. According to this Houzz article, in 2024 we are seeing interior design that hides wires and ugly everyday items incorporated into new design. You’re probably starting to see it in living rooms too. We are seeing more and more frame televisions with wires hidden from plain sight. This all comes back to minimalism being a trend on the rise.

Butler’s Pantries
When we talk about reducing clutter, we also mean this trend is on the rise in the kitchen as well! We all have our favorite additional appliances like microwaves, Instant Pots, crockpots, air fryers, and Kitchenaid mixers. The problem with these additional appliances is that they are just SO big. If we kept them all on the counter, then we would have no space to prepare meals. But if we put them all away, they are too bulky to move from one room to the next. We need them close by and that’s where butler’s pantries come in! These are spaces that are behind a door but still in the kitchen. We love creating custom shelving for all of your dry goods and spaces for all of your additional appliances. Some people even want a station to plug them in and use them right there in this additional space. Regardless, we always customize these spaces to your specific needs.

Wood Is A Classic And On Trend
The last trend we are excited to see on this list is wood! We are talking wood cabinets, wood flooring, wood beams, wood arches, and wood bathroom vanities. The reason this trend is making a comeback is because wood has more character while remaining timeless. Doing renovations are expensive and if you are going to invest in your home, you will want to put your money into something timeless. That’s one of the reasons we love the wood trend so much.
We know not everyone likes the “home trends” or feeling the need to follow them each year, but we always love to follow the ones that are timeless AND functional. We hope this blog has given you some inspiration and ideas for your next home renovation project. Remember to stay true to your personal style and needs, while also incorporating the latest trends. With the right planning and execution, your home renovation can be a success and bring you joy for years to come. Happy renovating!
